"Adam and Eve" by Mikhail Bulgakov is a thought-provoking play that delves into the complexities of human nature and the consequences of scientific experimentation. Set in the aftermath of a catastrophic war, the story centers around a scientist named Professor Artemyev, who creates a new version of Adam and Eve in his laboratory. These new beings are intended to be free from the flaws and moral failings of their predecessors. However, as they interact with the world and with each other, the play explores themes of innocence, knowledge, and the inherent imperfection of humanity. Bulgakov's sharp wit and keen insight into human behavior are evident throughout the play, making it a compelling exploration of the age-old myth through a modern lens.
