"Bijan and Manijeh" by Manouchehr Akbarloo is a unique adaptation of the classic Persian love story from Ferdowsi's "Shahnameh" (The Book of Kings), presented in the form of a play and narrated through the traditional art of 'parde khani' or 'naghali' (storytelling). Published by Soore Mehr, this book serves as a comprehensive toolkit for those interested in performing or experiencing this ancient form of storytelling, which traditionally involves a narrator or 'naghali' recounting epic tales without the use of elaborate props, relying instead on vivid descriptions and gestures. The play brings to life the romantic and heroic tale of Bijan and Manijeh, focusing on their forbidden love and the challenges they face due to their different backgrounds. The package not only includes the script but also all the essential elements required for a 'parde khani' performance.
