"For a New Novel: Essays on Fiction" by Alain Robbe-Grillet is a seminal work that delves into the theoretical and philosophical underpinnings of the French New Novel movement. In this collection of essays, Robbe-Grillet offers insightful reflections on the nature of fiction, narrative structure, and the role of the author in shaping literary meaning. Drawing upon his experiences as a novelist and filmmaker, Robbe-Grillet challenges traditional notions of storytelling and advocates for a new approach to narrative technique. He explores concepts such as "objective" storytelling, where the emphasis is placed on describing events as they occur rather than interpreting them through the subjective lens of the author's voice.
