Is Our Name Remembered? Book by Afsaneh Najmabadi (Farsi)

Açıklama

Is Our Name Remembered? by Afsaneh Najmabadi brings together nine influential essays by the renowned scholar of women’s studies. These essays, previously published across various Persian and English journals, are organized here into two main thematic groups. In the first, Najmabadi revisits key moments in modern Iranian history—such as the Constitutional Revolution—to highlight women’s active but often overlooked roles. In the second, she analyzes popular narratives like One Thousand and One Nights, Yusuf and Zulaikha, and Bamdad-e Khomar, arguing that these stories prioritize patriarchal fantasies over women’s desires. Through these critiques, she calls for a re-reading and re-writing of cultural narratives that have long distorted the representation of women.
