Manolito’s Christmas (Le Noël de Manolito) by Spanish author Elvira Lindo brings the beloved middle-grade character Manolito Gafotas into a festive and hilarious adventure. For Christmas, the children of Manolito’s school prepare a spectacular play intended to impress the mayor of Madrid. Manolito becomes a shepherd, while “Big-Ears” recites poetry—but chaos ensues when the sheep misbehave and digestive troubles strike. Amid the holiday mayhem, Manolito explains to his little brother, Junor, how the girls in school secretly adore him. Meanwhile, unexpected changes in the García Moreno household threaten to disrupt family life, much to Junor’s dismay. Once again, Manolito humorously shares his story with his grandfather, promising not to call his brother Junor anymore, delivering a warm, witty, and relatable Christmas tale for young readers.
