Memory for Forgetfulness Book by Mahmoud Darwish (Farsi)

Açıklama

“A Memory for Forgetting: Beirut, August, 1982” by Mahmoud Darwish is a blend of prose and poetry that reflects on the tragedy of war and the resilience of the human spirit. Written during the Lebanese Civil War and the Israeli invasion of Lebanon in 1982, the book captures the intense emotions and experiences of living under a prolonged siege. Mahmoud Darwish, one of the most celebrated poets in the Arab world, uses the backdrop of the Israeli bombing of Beirut to explore themes of memory, identity, and resistance in his poetry. Much of the book is written on August 6, 1982, the same date as the US atomic bombing of Hiroshima, adding a deep layer of historical resonance to the narrative. He vividly describes the devastation of Beirut under Israeli siege. The sound of fighter jets, the destruction of buildings, and the constant presence of death create a harrowing atmosphere. Darwish’s poetic writing captures the physical and psychological toll of war on the city’s inhabitants.
