Persian Traditional Kapu – Handwoven Palm Leaf Storage Basket with One-Piece Lid and Wooden Handles

Açıklama

Kapu Weaving is a traditional handicraft from southern Iran, especially renowned in Dezful, where it has been recognized as a “World City of Kapu.” It involves weaving young palm leaves tightly around wild plant stems to create durable baskets, trays, and decorative items. The pieces are often embellished with colorful yarns in geometric patterns, blending everyday functionality with artistic beauty. With over 500 years of history, Kapu weaving represents both cultural heritage and sustainable craftsmanship. Expertly crafted by skilled Iranian artisans using traditional Kapu weaving techniques, this unique basket is made from durable natural palm leaf fibers and designed to allow continuous airflow, helping to prevent moisture, insect infestation, and rice weevils without the use of chemicals. Its distinctive round one-piece lid ensures secure coverage, while the elegant wooden handles provide easy portability and enhance its handcrafted aesthetic. With a generous capacity of 8 to 12 kg, this breathable wicker container maintains the natural aroma, texture, and freshness of rice, making it ideal for long-term storage.
