Slaughterhouse-Five, or The Children’s Crusade by Kurt Vonnegut (Farsi)

Açıklama

"Slaughterhouse-Five, or The Children's Crusade" by Kurt Vonnegut is a seminal anti-war novel that blends science fiction, autobiography, and satire. The story follows Billy Pilgrim, a soldier who survives the World War II firebombing of Dresden, an experience Vonnegut himself endured as a prisoner of war. Billy becomes "unstuck in time," experiencing his life out of sequence, from his time in the war to his post-war suburban life and his abduction by aliens from the planet Tralfamadore, who teach him a non-linear view of time and existence. The novel explores themes of fate, free will, and the senselessness of war. Vonnegut uses Billy’s time travel to highlight the trauma of war and its lasting effects on the human psyche. Through a mix of dark humor and tragic reflection, Vonnegut critiques the glorification of war, exposing its brutality and absurdity.
