Açıklama

The Thief and the Dogs by Naguib Mahfouz is a gripping tale of betrayal, revenge, and existential struggle. The story follows Said Mahran, a thief recently released from prison, who seeks vengeance against those he believes have wronged him his ex-wife, her new husband, and his former accomplice who betrayed him to the authorities. Set against the backdrop of Cairo’s chaotic streets, Said’s journey is one of alienation and obsession, as he grapples with his disillusionment in a world that no longer feels familiar. Mahfouz masterfully blends psychological depth with a fast-paced narrative, exploring themes of loyalty, justice, and moral ambiguity. Through Said’s fragmented thoughts and interactions, the novel delves into the complexities of his character both as a victim and as a perpetrator of violence.
