An Untouched House Book by Willem Frederik Hermans (Farsi)

Açıklama

An Untouched House by Willem Frederik Hermans is one of the most powerful and unsettling works of Dutch post–World War II literature. First published in 1951, this short novel leaves a lasting impact far beyond its modest length. Set in Eastern Europe in 1944, the story follows a Dutch partisan soldier fighting alongside Russian forces who discovers a grand, seemingly untouched house amid the devastation of war. In contrast to the surrounding destruction, the house offers him temporary shelter, identity, and a fragile sense of peace. Yet this illusion of safety cannot endure. Hermans’s stark narrative reveals how war inevitably penetrates even the most protected spaces, exposing the instability of refuge and the inescapable presence of violence and moral collapse.
