Fen Play by Caryl Churchill (Farsi)

Açıklama

Fen by Caryl Churchill is a powerful and politically charged stage play depicting the harsh realities of working-class women in the rural fens of eastern England. First performed in 1983, the play combines Churchill’s signature fragmented, poetic style with documentary-inspired realism. It tells the story of women trapped by poverty, social expectations, and suppressed aspirations, highlighting their daily struggles in the fields for meager wages. Central to the narrative is Val, a woman yearning for freedom and love, even if it means leaving her children behind. Through sharp dialogue and vivid episodic scenes, Churchill exposes the systemic forces that limit women economically and emotionally, offering a poignant exploration of resilience, desire, and the pursuit of liberation.
