Hobbes and Republican Liberty Book by Quentin Skinner (Farsi)

Açıklama

Hobbes and Republican Liberty by Quentin Skinner is a penetrating exploration of Thomas Hobbes’s political theory, particularly his conception of liberty, in the context of the early modern republican tradition. Skinner, a leading figure in the history of political thought, contrasts Hobbes’s definition of liberty—as mere absence of physical restraint—with the older, republican ideal of liberty as non-domination or freedom from arbitrary power. Through close textual analysis and historical contextualization, Skinner shows how Hobbes sought to undermine the republican defense of participatory government by redefining freedom in a way that justified strong, centralized authority.
