Jitney Play by August Wilson (Farsi)

Açıklama

Jitney is a play by American playwright August Wilson, set in Pittsburgh’s Hill District during the 1970s. The story centers on a group of unlicensed taxi drivers, known as jitney drivers, who operate out of a worn-down station that serves as a vital hub for the African American community. The station provides transportation to those who cannot rely on official taxi services due to racial and economic barriers. The plot unfolds as the city plans an urban redevelopment project that threatens to demolish the station. Through its characters and setting, the play captures a specific moment in time and place, exploring themes of community, resilience, and the struggle to preserve cultural and economic spaces under pressure from modernization and authority.
