The Birthday Party Play by Harold Pinter (Farsi)

Açıklama

The Birthday Party by Harold Pinter is a seminal work of modern drama and black comedy. Set in a seaside boarding house, the play follows Stanley, a reclusive lodger whose quiet existence is disrupted by the arrival of two mysterious men, Goldberg and McCann. Under the guise of celebrating his birthday, they subject Stanley to psychological interrogation and humiliation, transforming an ordinary gathering into a surreal and threatening ordeal. Pinter’s use of ambiguity, silences, and menace explores themes of identity, authority, and existential vulnerability, leaving the audience uncertain about the true nature of events. The play exemplifies Pinter’s distinctive style, where meaning is often implied rather than stated, and human relationships are marked by power and insecurity.
