The Pillars of Society Play by Henrik Ibsen (Farsi)

Açıklama

“The Pillars of Society” is a landmark realist play by Henrik Ibsen, first published in 1877. It tells the story of Carsten Bernick, a prominent merchant in a small Norwegian coastal town, who secretly acquires fertile land while planning an ambitious railway project to connect his town to the main line. His carefully constructed public image is threatened when two figures from his past—Lona Hessel, a woman he abandoned, and Johan Tønnesen, who left town in disgrace fifteen years earlier—return. Ibsen explores themes of hypocrisy, social responsibility, ambition, and the clash between past and present in shaping moral integrity.
