"Blaze" is a crime novel that tells the tragic story of Clayton "Blaze" Blaisdell, Jr., a mentally disabled man who becomes involved in a kidnapping plot. Blaze, a giant of a man with a gentle heart, was shaped by a series of unfortunate events in his life, from an abusive childhood to a life of petty crime. His only friend and partner in crime, George Rackley, is the mastermind behind their criminal activities. After George's death, Blaze, haunted by George's voice in his head, decides to carry out their last big plan: the kidnapping of an infant heir to a wealthy family. However, as Blaze takes care of the baby, his inherent decency begins to conflict with the criminal act he's committed.
