Romulus the Great Play by Friedrich Dürrenmatt (Farsi)

Açıklama

Romulus the Great by Friedrich Dürrenmatt is a satirical historical drama depicting the fall of the Western Roman Empire on the eve of 476 CE. Rather than resisting invasion and political collapse, Emperor Romulus Augustus withdraws from imperial responsibility and devotes himself to raising chickens, symbolizing his rejection of power and historical destiny. Envoys and ministers urge decisive action, but Romulus remains indifferent, even negotiating the sale of imperial artifacts and contemplating the end of Rome with ironic detachment. Dürrenmatt transforms historical tragedy into philosophical comedy, questioning the value of political authority and suggesting that civilizations, like individuals, inevitably decline. The play blends absurd humor with critical reflection on leadership, responsibility, and historical inevitability.
